Since “shelter in place”, social distancing, and wearing masks began, my wife and I have managed well by going out for regular exercise, walking, and/or running in our neighborhood. We missed not being able to do this at our regular sites of nearby beaches and lagoons. We got excited when we heard the announcement beaches and lagoons would be opening with the same safety regulations. Opening day arrived, and we drove to the beach clad in masks, sunglasses, and hats. When we walked down the ramp, we were glad there were two roped-in paths, one down to the beach and the other up to the top, with about 20 feet of cement ramp in between, separating them. The beach was only moderately populated, socially distanced, and moving and but most people didn’t have masks on. I’m a runner, and I know our breathing, sweat, and wake spreads at least fifteen feet. We walked for 32 minutes, doing our best to keep a safe distance away from others. It was a stressful experience, and we haven’t gone back to the beach. Please join me in praying that all people come to realize masks protect them from others and others from them if they are infected.

A riveting thriller that I happened to read just after finishing Nelson DeMille’s THE CUBAN AFFAIR.
Chapman’s novel has it all — international intrigue; colorful, well-rendered characters; romance; suspense; the frenetic, edgy Manhattan-Greenwich scene, leavened with enough Bay Area — Stanford, spirituality, food, wine and coastal castles — to keep it fun throughout.
If you can’t wait to find out what happens, the e-book is discounted to $4.99 from the list price of $9.99. Here is the link:
